Each year, new wedding ideas and d-etails are created by wedding planners, floral designers and wedding vendors of every type. Today more than ever, couples want their guests to notice the effort that goes into planning their wedding. Rather than personalizing the wedding to the couple, it’s becoming more about who their guests are and what they mean to them.

Here are five wedding trends, and the details that bring them to life, that modern couples are embracing.

Dessert tables

We’re already halfway through the year and one trend that we’ve been seeing more and more of in 2018 is dessert tables. Many brides are opting for a dessert table over the traditional last course. I mean, let’s face it, who doesn’t love dessert?! From doughnuts and macaroons to cheesecake and cookies, you can even add a delicious trifle into the mix! Not only do these dessert tables look super cute (and delicious!), but your guests will get more dessert – what’s not to love?!

This year we’re stepping away from rose gold and going for a more industrial look using copper. Not only is copper a stunning accent, but it’s super cheap! Lanterns and tea light holders are a great way to incorporate copper into your special day as copper looks absolutely beautiful when reflecting candle light. You can also incorporate this trendy accent into chairs, ribbons, cups, and even cutlery. While copper is great for all seasons, it will tie in perfectly with an autumnal wedding color palette. Copper isn’t just trending in decor, many brides are also incorporating mixed metals into their wedding ring stacks as well.

Mismatched bridesmaid dresses

Long gone are the days of each bridesmaid wearing the same dress. Today, brides are mixing it up with mismatched bridesmaid dresses. This creates a unique look featuring dresses in a variety of styles, fabrics, hemlines and even colors. If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid, you know how difficult it can be to find a dress that suits everyone. Well, this trend allows you to showcase each and every one of your bridesmaids and ensure that they’re wearing a dress that makes each one of them look and feel great!

Hanging flowers/greenery

We started to see this trend appear last year in some of the most stylish weddings and it is here to stay in 2018! This creative approach to floral displays is great because it allows more space on tables if you’re choosing big sharing plants or simply want to add more candles. Hanging flowers or greenery above tables at your venue also adds a great dynamic to the space, playing with both heights and viewpoints, plus it looks absolutely stunning!

Unique food choices

Wedding menus are now becoming an inspiration point for the entire wedding day. Many modern couples are even opting out of the traditional 3-course set menu on their wedding day. Instead, they are choosing foods that they love and basing their menus off of shared food experiences. Whether it’s big sharing plates, food trucks, or even pizza, wedding food is definitely seeing a change in 2018.
